Groundhog Day is February 2. Punxatawney Phil did see his shadow, which means six more weeks of winter.

Visit a Bear’s Den!

Meet Lily!

Researchers in Ely, MN believe that Lily (a black bear) is ready to give birth to cubs any day. Did you know that black bear cubs are born weighing less than a pound? This isn’t something you get to see every day, but the Bear Center has mounted a live camera in Lily’s den! She seems to be preparing for her new additions. Take a peek!

Update: Lily had her cub on January 22. Now you can watch her care for her baby here! (And it now works from school!)

Thank You, Dr. King

While fighting for equality, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. made many powerful speeches. His most memorable may be “I Have A Dream.”

Check out this picture from wordle.net. This is a word cloud from that speech. The biggest words are those that appear most often.

Welcome, 2010!
