Anissa Grotjohn: 7 - 8 Band
Mrs. Anissa Grotjohn is a 1996 graduate of the University of Minnesota Morris, with a Bachelor of Arts in Music, and K-12 instrumental music licensure. At Morris, she performed on flute and piccolo in UMM Concert Band, several flute ensembles, flute choir, woodwind quintet, and jazz combos. Anissa also played trombone in Cougar Jazz Band, and tuba during the 1995 UMM Concert Band tour to Florida. In addition to playing regularly at church, she has enjoyed performing in the Itasca Symphony Orchestra, Coleraine City Band, and several musical productions by the Grand Rapids Players.
During her college years, Mrs. Grotjohn taught color guard at Benson High School and Morris Area High School. After college, she taught 5-8th grade classroom music, 7-12 choir and band, and jazz band in Bigfork, MN. In 1997, Mrs. Grotjohn began teaching in the Greenway school district. She taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade bands, jazz band, lessons, small ensembles, and marching band. In the fall of 2006, Mrs. Grotjohn joined the Virginia school district part-time to teach beginning band, lessons, and help with the summer marching program. Anissa now teaches the 7th and 8th grade band, jr. high lessons, and continues as the assistant director of the fabulous, amazing, show-stopping Virginia Marching Blues!
Christine Freundschuh:
6th grade band, Concert Band, Wind Ensemble & Jazz
Recent graduate of Concordia College in Moorhead, MN with a Bachelor of Music degree, Christine Freundschuh comes fresh to the band world. Proficient on flute, trombone, and percussion, she has been involved in numerous ensembles in her performing career. Those ensembles consist of the Concordia College Concert Band, Concordia Jazz Ensembles I & II, Norway College Band, Fargo-Moorhead Opera for The Mikado, Cobber Band, North Dakota Gold Star Marching Band, Percussion Ensemble, Chamber Orchestra, Flute Choir and Trombone Choir. She has worked as the Cobber Band student director, directing rehearsals, pep band games, and concerts. She has also been assistant band director of the Litchfield High School Marching Dragons for the 2007 summer season. Currently she is the director of four ensembles of the Virginia High School Blue Devils: 6th Grade Band, Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, and Jazz Band.
