This Friday, five students and myself will travel to Concordia College in Moorhead, MN to attend the 4th Annual Concordia College High School Choral Festival. These students will get to watch, listen to, rehearse, and perform with The Concordia Choir, one of the top choirs in the country. They also get the opportunity to sing under the director of Dr. Rene Clausen, one of the most well known choral conductors in the world, who is the conductor of The Concordia Choir.
The two day event takes place on the campus of Concordia College, a school known nation wide for its music department. Four entire high school choirs are invited from various schools throughout the state. Then an invitation is sent to all Minnesota high schools to bring up to six singers to attend the event. This year, almost 600 high school singers will be participating in the event.
These students will participate in the mass choir which performs at the end of the Festival Concert. This concert will also feature performances by the four invited choirs and The Concordia Choir. During the two days festival, students will hear mini concerts by all the choirs at Concordia, take part in private and group lessons with Concordia voice faculty, socialize with the other singers, and, of course, rehearse.
The students attending this year are: Brooke Carlsen, Sarah Miettunen, Lindsay Monacelli, Hillery Frank, and Jesse Hancock.
